If the fluid is very dark or has a burnt odor, it is time to get the transmission serviced.
Automatic transmission service
There are two methods that are usually recommended to service your auto transmission. The first method is by using a flush machine. This machine performs a one to one replacement of your transmission fluid. Many auto repair centers will have the equipment on hand to perform this service and it can usually be done while you wait. The cost of this service can vary based on the type of vehicle but is usually under $150.00. By changing your transmission fluid, your auto transmission will run cooler and be better lubricated.
